The Sarral City Council, in collaboration with the social entity Formació i Treball, has announced the collection of 6,999 kg of second-hand clothing throughout 2025. This amount was obtained thanks to the two containers distributed across the municipality in Conca de Barberà.
These nearly seven thousand kilograms add up to the total of 7,767,780 kg that Formació i Treball managed across Catalonia during the last year. The collected clothing is sent to the treatment plant in Sabadell, considered one of the largest and most advanced in Europe, where it is sorted for reuse or recycling.
The Formació i Treball model stands out for generating one job for every 31,300 kg collected, boosting employment for people at risk of social exclusion.
In addition to job creation, the entity also carries out environmental education actions. With this initiative, the Sarral council reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and social justice, moving towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
