The II Canyelles Mil·lenària Historical Novel Festival has recognized the distinguished professional career of John Carlin, linked to journalism and literature, with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Historical Novel. The award ceremony took place on Saturday, coinciding with the central day of the event.
Saturday's program was able to proceed with various round tables, although the third day, scheduled for Sunday, October 4th, had to be suspended due to restrictions imposed by the Government in response to a severe weather alert.
The award ceremony for John Carlin was one of the emotional highlights of the festival. The presentation was made by Laura Marín, who conversed with the author about his work, followed by a reading of texts by the collective EVA354. The distinction was presented by the mayor of Canyelles, Rosa Huguet.
The festival, organized by the Canyelles City Council and the Libertània Association, has established Canyelles as a meeting point for historical literature. Saturday's event brought together writers, historians, and readers at the Espai Romanguer, where four debate panels were held on history and fiction, the role of anonymous individuals, modernism, and the consequences of war conflicts.
Among the participants were authors such as Laura Mas, Miquel Fañanàs, Núria Esponellà, Vicenç Aguado, Ascen Capel, Pere Anglas, Coia Valls, Roger Bastida, Sònia Casas, Xavi Coral, Gisela Pou, and Xulio Ricardo Trigo.
The second edition of Canyelles Mil·lenària, part of the Autumn Welcome program, confirms the success of a project that attracts top-tier authors and a loyal audience, establishing itself as a benchmark literary event in the region.
