The Generalitat government has lifted the restrictive measures in the Garraf region, but it is recommended to maintain caution and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in the north of the country.
The Cubelles City Council has moved to the alert phase of the municipal INUNCAT plan. Despite the improved situation, regional and municipal authorities emphasize prevention, urging people to avoid flood-prone areas such as the mouth of the Foix river or local streams.
Cubelles maintains the plan active in the alert phase and is monitoring the Foix reservoir, which is at 76% capacity. The mayor of Cubelles, Rosa Fonoll, is in constant contact with the director of the ACA. Currently, water inflow to the reservoir is decreasing, and the outflow is maintained at 0.58 m3/s, which is imperceptible at the Cubelles mouth. The Local Police have closed access to the riverbed and recommend not approaching its vicinity.
Cleaning crews from Veolia, the company managing Cubelles' integrated water cycle, have begun work to restore normality. Periodic cleaning of drains, intensified due to storm warnings, has allowed for rapid drainage of accumulated water once the rain stopped.
The most critical moments of the torrential rainfall episode occurred yesterday around 9 PM, when the large volume of water forced the closure of usual underpasses on Avinguda de la Riera, the bridge of Arles de Tec, and the passage between Cubelles and Cunit (torrent d'en Pedro). Some streets in the Bardají and Marítim areas also accumulated significant water, though no closures were necessary.
The Cubelles City Council extends its condolences to the families of the victims of this storm episode in Catalonia and highlights the work of the Cubelles Local Police, municipal services, and emergency and civil protection bodies for their efforts in minimizing incidents. Gratitude is also expressed to the public for largely following the instructions issued by the competent authorities.
