The campaign will be rolled out in stages, aiming to prevent complications and reduce the risk of severe illness and hospitalizations. The Department of Health expects to concentrate the bulk of vaccinations between October 5th and December 18th, although vaccines will remain available at health centers until the end of the epidemiological season, around late March.
The campaign is organized into three phases. The first, starting on October 5th, targets people in residences, those aged 80 years and over, pregnant women, children between 6 and 59 months, and healthcare and social healthcare personnel.
From October 26th, the second phase will expand vaccination to individuals aged 60 years and over, other at-risk groups, and essential service professionals, by appointment. From November 16th, these groups will also be able to access vaccination without an appointment at primary care centers.
Vaccination appointment slots have been open since July 27th. Citizens can book appointments through the usual channels: La Meva Salut (website or mobile app), the website citasalut.gencat.cat, or directly at their Primary Care Center (CAP).
The Department of Health reminds the public that vaccination is a key preventive tool, especially for those most at risk. It also recommends maintaining usual preventive measures against respiratory infections, such as wearing a mask when symptoms appear.
