Infrastructure manager Adif launched comprehensive maintenance works this Monday on the Rodalies R2 South line, specifically on the section between Sitges and Garraf.

The improvement tasks focus on the structural reinforcement of a tunnel, two viaducts, and an underpass. These actions, which were already pre-planned, aim to ensure infrastructure safety and optimize the protection of railway facilities in a complex environment due to its proximity to the sea.
Due to the scale of the works in the Garraf tunnel, train traffic will operate on a single track in this sector. This operational restriction is expected to last between three and four months, affecting both Rodalies and Regional services in the southern corridor.
To minimize the impact on passengers, an alternative transport plan using buses has been implemented to complement the regular rail service. Drone footage captured by ACN highlights the technical complexity of the work being carried out in this scenic coastal area.
