The Minister of Territori, Sílvia Paneque, announced this Tuesday that the C-32 highway will remain a toll road despite the ongoing railway disruptions caused by works in the Garraf tunnels.

Addressing the Parliament, Paneque stated that making the highway free is neither convenient nor necessary. She argued that such a move would encourage the use of private vehicles, which contradicts the government's strategy of strengthening public transport alternatives during infrastructure upgrades.

"Free tolls do not necessarily guarantee better mobility or traffic flow."

The Generalitat remains open to adjusting the current alternative transport plan if local councils propose feasible improvements. Paneque highlighted that previous experiences, such as the R3 line works, showed that minor adjustments can significantly improve mobility for affected commuters without resorting to lifting highway tolls.
