An R2 South line train was stranded for 90 minutes inside the Garraf tunnels this Thursday, sparking outrage among passengers due to the lack of information.

The incident was caused by a pantograph malfunction, leading to a total loss of power. Civil Protection activated the FERROCAT emergency plan until the convoy was towed to Garraf station in Sitges.

"We spent two hours in a tunnel without mobile coverage, with barely any information about the breakdown."

This breakdown occurs just before Adif begins a 3 million euro maintenance project in the area. Renfe reported that while service wasn't fully suspended, frequency was reduced to two trains per hour.
