The extraordinary Council meeting on the governability of Sitges, requested by Junts per Sitges, PP, Fets per Sitges, and independent councilor Elena Alonso, concluded with the approval of a motion urging the Municipal Government to improve its communication and establish dialogue mechanisms with the opposition. The motion received 13 votes in favor from the initiating groups, PSC, Verds Sitges En Comú Podem, and VOX, while Guanyem Sitges abstained and the government groups (ERC and Sitges Grup Independent) voted against it.
The adopted agreements include a request for a written plan of political priorities and projects until the end of the term, the convening of bi-weekly meetings with all opposition groups, and the guarantee of prior or immediate information on decisions made by governing bodies. It also calls for informing the Council of political agreements necessary to ensure governability and reporting on the status of key strategic projects.
During the debate, Mònica Gallardo (Junts per Sitges) criticized the slow progress of projects and the loss of respect for the municipality, citing examples like the bus station or the market's climate control. PSC spokesperson Luis Miguel García emphasized the need for stability and negotiation spaces, while Carme Gasulla (Verds En Comú Podem Sitges) asked the government to assume its minority responsibility.
PP councilor Eva García called for the government's resignation and pointed to cleaning and security as pending issues. Ignasi Rubí (Fets per Sitges) described the government as "illegitimate" and denounced the outsourcing of public services. Independent councilor Elena Alonso agreed on the government's lack of leadership and direction.
From VOX, José Antonio Gilabert demanded explanations for the pact's breakdown, calling the situation a "disaster". Josep Maria Tubau (Guanyem Sitges) concurred on the government's failure to meet commitments, although he considered the session "useless" and costly.
Mayor Aurora Carbonell (ERC) defended the government's work, noting that many Catalan municipalities govern in minority and that there is no viable alternative. Albert Oliver-Rodés (ERC) highlighted projects such as the creation of 482 affordable housing units and lamented the tense atmosphere generated by the opposition. David Martínez (Sitges Grup Independent) showcased ongoing projects like the Terramar rehabilitation or the future music school, and criticized the opposition's tone during the debate.
