On Monday, March 16, essential maintenance work began on the Garraf tunnels and bridges, leading to significant travel disruptions for commuters heading to Barcelona from the south.

The R2 Sud commuter line has seen its frequency slashed to just one train per hour in each direction. Meanwhile, Regional train services are completely suspended between Sant Vicenç de Calders and El Prat de Llobregat, forcing passengers to use replacement bus services.
Commuters have expressed concerns over the 'travel obstacle course,' noting that transfer times between buses and trains are not properly synchronized. The situation is expected to last until June, affecting thousands of daily users.
While cities like Tarragona have direct bus links to Barcelona, other towns such as Cambrils and Vila-seca have criticized the lack of adequate alternative transport options during this four-month construction period.
