The Sant Bartomeu fireworks display, scheduled for August 23rd at 11 PM in Sitges, will implement special measures to protect the recently restored church and its bell tower.

The traditional Sant Bartomeu fireworks display, one of the most anticipated moments of the Sitges Festa Major, will take place on August 23rd at 11 PM. The pyrotechnic spectacle, which uses the Punta, breakwaters, and Fragata as an incomparable backdrop, attracts thousands of people annually. This year, agreements have been made to ensure the event's compatibility with the maintenance of the architectural complex, including the recently restored bell tower and the church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla.
The Sitges City Council, the parish of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla, and Pirotècnia Igual have agreed on three key measures to minimize the impact of the fireworks on the church. Firstly, the rockets previously launched from the church roof will be fired from the side this year. Secondly, the rockets forming the cascade will be positioned further from the church facade. Finally, the flares simulating fires on the bell tower and church will be retained but will incorporate metallic supports to prevent damage to the pavement.
These actions ensure that the fireworks display maintains its spectacularity, particularly in iconic moments like the cascade on the church facade and the colorful fires, while minimizing the impact on the building's structure.
