The Sitges City Council has issued a proclamation announcing the upcoming Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla 2026 Festa Major, an anticipated celebration that connects with history while evolving with the times. The organizing committee and local entities have already begun rehearsals for dances and music for the event.
The festival aims to be characterized by its inclusivity. The 'Tram en calma' (calm zone) will be maintained on Sant Gaudenci street for individuals with high acoustic sensitivity. Additionally, the funfair at can Robert will reduce music and loud lights on August 12, 13, 19, and 20, from 6 PM to 8 PM. Vibrating vests have been acquired for the deaf, and the Ball de Panderetes with diversity will be promoted. The Violències 0.0 campaign will continue to ensure a space free from sexist and LGTBIfobic violence, and specific warnings will be issued for pyrotechnic events to ensure the well-being of everyone, including domestic animals.
To guarantee safety, attendees are urged to follow the organization's recommendations and familiarize themselves with the routes of processions and parades. Caution is advised for children during the passage of fire groups ('colles de foc'), and windows and balconies should be closed. Elements vulnerable to fire should be protected. It is also recommended to avoid leaving flammable materials outdoors and to respect signage, particularly regarding vehicles and space cleaning. On August 24, the day of Sant Bartomeu, it is advised to close shops for the celebration.
All detailed information, including routes, schedules, and tips, will be available on the website www.sitgesfestamajor.cat. The Festa Major of Sitges is recognized as a Heritage Festival of National Interest by the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The proclamation highlights the importance of the anonymous individuals who make the festival possible: seamstresses, hairdressers, cooks, cleaning staff, prevention and security personnel, brigades, and municipal workers. Gratitude and appreciation are extended to all of them for their contribution.
The celebration unites tradition, joy, and hope, remembering predecessors and looking towards the future. The proclamation concludes with cheers for the Festa Major and for Sitges, signed by Aurora Carbonell i Abella, Mayor of Sitges.
