The UPC Vilanova i la Geltrú is celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2026, standing as a key educational pillar in the Garraf region with all 1,500 student spots currently filled.

Founded in 1901 as the Superior and Elementary School of Industries, the institution predates the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) itself. Over the decades, it has evolved to meet the specific industrial needs of the region.
The school is renowned for its specialized programs, including the Degree in Electrical Engineering and Railway Systems—the only one of its kind in Spain—and the Degree in Marine Sciences and Technologies.
Commemorative events began last week with an inaugural conference featuring former directors and university leaders, marking the start of a year-long celebration of the school's legacy.
