The Vilanova i la Geltrú City Council has launched a new legal guidance service in March 2026 to protect the rights of local tenants facing housing insecurity.

Managed by the Local Housing Office, this initiative offers personalized advice on rental contracts, rent increases, and mediation. It also features a community approach with workshops and support groups across Vilanova i la Geltrú neighborhoods to raise awareness about tenant rights.
A specialized technical team will work alongside the Catalan Housing Agency to ensure the enforcement of the Rent Regulation Law in stressed market zones. The service also aims to monitor the local rental market supply and provide social and legal assistance.

"This new resource aims to guarantee the rights of tenants, offering support, information, and guidance in situations of insecurity."

The service is free of charge and available to all residents. Consultations take place every Wednesday by appointment, which can be requested by calling 93 816 90 31 or via the municipal housing department's email.
