On September 28th, Can Turiols in Olivella hosted the talk ‘Time was time, a citizen's right. How to manage it?’, led by Joaquim Millan. The activity, specifically aimed at the municipality's seniors, provided a space for reflection and participation on the value of time during this life stage.
During the session, participants reflected on how they manage their time, what brings them well-being and meaning, and how they can use it for self-care, strengthening social bonds, community involvement, and pursuing personal interests and projects.
From a practical and participatory perspective, the talk addressed various strategies for setting priorities, identifying new motivations, and valuing daily activities. It was highlighted that having personal time is crucial for fostering autonomy, well-being, and active and meaningful aging.
This initiative is part of the Time Use Week 2026, the International Time Use Week, which focuses on the right to time and the need to rethink how we organize and distribute life's various temporal aspects. In this context, Olivella's proposal extended this reflection to the reality of seniors, advocating for the importance of having time for oneself to live this stage more fully.
The event concluded with a reception, which allowed for continued conversations, shared experiences, and reflections in a relaxed atmosphere.
This activity is part of the Olivella City Council's efforts to promote active, participatory, and satisfying aging, creating spaces that enhance well-being, social relationships, and the involvement of seniors in community life.
