The new facility, spanning 3,500 m² across four floors, integrates the Adult Mental Health Center (CSMA), the Adult Day Hospital, the Community Rehabilitation Service (SRC), the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Center (SMIJ), the Child and Adolescent Day Hospital, and the Addiction Care and Support Center (CASD).
Housing these services in a single building enhances coordination among professional teams and facilitates care transitions throughout different life stages. The Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu manages adult and community rehabilitation services, Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona provides child and adolescent services, and the Fundació Hospitalàries de Martorell handles addiction care.
The center's design adheres to principles of humanization, accessibility, sustainability, and energy efficiency, featuring spaces intended to promote well-being and recovery. The architecture aims to create a welcoming environment, moving away from the traditional image of mental health centers, thereby helping to normalize mental health care and combat associated stigma.
Emphasis has been placed on simplicity, comfort, acoustic insulation, solar control, and warm lighting. Natural light and connection with the outdoors are key elements, with spaces opening towards the urban and natural surroundings of Vilanova i la Geltrú, maximizing natural light and exterior views.
