The New Oil Festival takes place this Sunday, December 14, at the cooperative in El Soleràs, featuring breakfast, mill tours, and an expert-led oil tasting session.

The event, centered around the cooperative, includes a popular breakfast and a guided tour of the facilities, led by the millers themselves. The highlight will be the oil tasting, conducted by Josep Maria Preixens, a member of the Official Tasting Panel of Catalunya.
This celebration is the last of the year, following the oil festivals held the previous weekend in Castelldans, Cervià, and L’Espluga Calba.
The next major event for the sector will be the Fira de l’Oli de Les Borges Blanques, scheduled for the third weekend of January, which gathers producers from Les Garrigues and other regions. Notably, the regional capital hosts the awards ceremony for the National Awards for Best Extra Virgin Olive Oils this Saturday, organized by the Department of Agriculture.
It is worth noting that in late November, the El Soleràs cooperative was already the focus of the Entre molins initiative, where four mills in Les Garrigues Altes were transformed into ephemeral restaurants, hosting an exclusive lunch prepared, in the case of El Soleràs, by Arrosseria X No Rules.
