La Garrotxa will be the setting for the twelfth edition of the Emporion Games, an event that promotes sports and healthy habits through competitions and recreational sports activities for schoolchildren and the general public.

Between May 15 and 17, seven municipalities in the region will host various activities. The participating towns are Olot, les Preses, Sant Joan les Fonts, la Vall d’en Bas, la Vall de Bianya, Besalú, and Santa Pau. These games, which originated in 2014 in Figueres, aim to energize and promote sports culture and healthy lifestyles.

"It is a consolidated event, deeply rooted in the territory and that has been growing. Beyond the sporting aspect, I would like to highlight the pedagogical one, as it reinforces civic behavior and teamwork."

The activities, open to all audiences, have brought together more than 50,000 athletes in their previous eleven editions. This year, 22 activities have been scheduled, primarily aimed at children, in disciplines such as volleyball, skating, rhythmic gymnastics, hockey, judo, artistic gymnastics, football, swimming, athletics, and handball. New additions include a multi-sport gathering, table tennis, and a meeting from the «Més actius» program.

"The Emporion Games have as their central core the territorial phases of the school sports games of Catalonia and are the culmination of the work of the entire 2025-2026 academic year. It is important to bet on sports at school age, because it is the best way to generate healthy habits and promote an active population."
