The project, named NANIT, aims to analyze the link between sleep disorders and the risk of cardiovascular disease. The initiative was chosen by Dipsalut and the Girona Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBGI) to receive funding in this fourth edition of regional research grants.
The study focuses on the impact of obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, and circadian rhythm alterations on heart health. Using portable electronic devices, researchers will monitor physical activity, light exposure, and body temperature of participants to obtain precise data on their habits and biological rhythms.
This research seeks to improve early detection of patients with high cardiovascular risk and move towards more personalized medical care. The work will place special emphasis on women's health and how menopause may influence these sleep disorders.
The official presentation of the project took place at the Casa de Cultura de Girona during the II Talent Gironí Research and Health Conference. The grant call, now in its fourth edition, awards 17,500 euros to each selected project to promote scientific activity in regional hospitals.
