The Pioners del Nostre Temps Foundation has finalized a forest fire prevention plan for the Muga area, which will be submitted to the Generalitat for approval.

The project, encompassing approximately 40,000 hectares across about twenty municipalities, aims to protect the region from large-scale fires, referencing the significant blaze in 2012.
This initiative, driven by the foundation with support from the Government, plans specific interventions in around 2,600 hectares. These areas were chosen for their topography, which aids emergency teams in better fighting and containing fires.
The plan's development involved active collaboration with landowner associations, farmers, environmentalists, and other key local stakeholders. This engagement seeks to address the existing "gap" in fire planning between the Albera massif and the Alta Garrotxa.
