The municipal swimming pool in Besalú was closed this Wednesday after a group of individuals allegedly entered the premises and defecated in the water, as reported by the council.

The Besalú City Council decided to close the facility after staff reported the discovery of fecal matter in the pool. According to initial reports, a group of people allegedly gained access to the municipal complex by jumping over the fence during the night.
Following established protocols from the Health department, the council has proceeded with the immediate closure of the facility. Furthermore, a formal complaint has been filed, and footage from video surveillance cameras will be provided to identify those responsible for the acts.

"It's not the first time we've detected people entering the pool at night, but it is the first time we've found feces."

Lluís Gunió · Mayor of Besalú
The mayor of Besalú, Lluís Gunió, expressed regret over the incident, noting that while unauthorized nocturnal entries into the facility had occurred before, a situation like this had never happened previously.
