The Mossos d'Esquadra police force has officially identified Adrián Romero, a 31-year-old resident of Olot, as the victim of a fatal stabbing that occurred last Sunday in the Sant Miquel neighborhood.

Forensic tests conducted in Girona confirmed the identity of the man, who was found in Almogàvers Street with a stab wound to his back. Romero, originally from Honduras, had been living in the Garrotxa region for eight years. Emergency services confirmed his death at the scene shortly after a witness raised the alarm.
The Criminal Investigation Division is currently investigating the circumstances of the attack, which is believed to have followed a prior argument. This incident marks the first homicide in the Girona province in 2026. The case remains under judicial secrecy as officers work to identify and locate the suspect.
