The Algete Veterinary Central Laboratory (Madrid) confirmed the positive results for ten additional wild boars, located near previously reported cases in the municipality of Cerdanyola del Vallès (Barcelona). Simultaneously, 208 carcasses of animals found dead in the wild or on roads and railways in the infected zone and its surroundings were analyzed, all yielding negative results.
Search and surveillance tasks are carried out by the Generalitat Rural Agents, in collaboration with the Military Emergency Unit (UME), the Mossos d’Esquadra police force, the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Guardia Civil, and the local police. These forces are responsible for vehicle and personnel disinfection and monitoring unauthorized access to the infected zone.

Economically, Minister Òscar Ordeig announced that China has reduced tariffs on Spanish pork exports from 20% to 9.8%. For some Catalan and Aragonese slaughterhouses, the reduction will be up to 4.8%. Meanwhile, the results of the audit commissioned by the ministry to determine whether the virus leaked from the IRTA-CReSA Animal Health Research Center are expected in the coming days.
To address the high density of game fauna, such as rabbits and wild boars, the Govern has approved the hiring of 30 new positions. Spokesperson and Minister of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, Sílvia Paneque, confirmed that the goal is to reduce the wild boar population to a maximum of four per square kilometer, a 37% reduction from the current density.
Finally, the Govern has declared the end of the Contagious Nodular Dermatosis (DNC) outbreak detected last October 3 in the province of Girona. The Department of Agriculture will lift restrictions in Cassà de la Selva on December 26 and in Castelló d’Empúries on January 8, and compensation payments for the 17 affected farms will be published shortly.
