The two projects, demanded for years by the municipalities, facilitate pedestrian and cycling travel, connect the two towns, and extend the routes along the riverbank. The Ter River footbridge project, first considered in 2013, involved the participation of mayors Xavier Soy and Pere Lluís Garcia.
The mayor of Bescanó, Xavier Vinyoles, highlighted that "recovering connectivity between Bescanó and Sant Gregori responds to a citizen demand." He also emphasized the role of this link in attracting visitors, recalling that historically the connection between the two banks facilitated the arrival of workers to the textile industry.
“"Recovering connectivity between Bescanó and Sant Gregori responds to a citizen demand."
A symbolic moment of the day was the meeting in the center of the footbridge between siblings M. Àngels Salvador, a resident of Bescanó, and Salvador Salvador, a resident of Sant Gregori, symbolizing the union between the two towns.
The day also marked the inauguration of the Cua del Peix footbridge, which overcomes the outlet of the Grober factory canal and resolves the interruption in the route along the Ter Riverbank.
With these new infrastructures, citizens have more opportunities to walk, cycle, and discover the river landscape. The Bescanó City Council thanks the administrations, technical teams, and all individuals who contributed to realizing these projects.
