Adif has agreed to conduct a comprehensive review of the railway line crossing Girona next week, responding to the City Council's request following the Gelida accident.

The railway infrastructure administrator, Adif, will examine the passage of the R1 and R11 lines through the city of Girona. The audit request by the Girona City Council was made two weeks ago to ensure the safety of the infrastructure.
The review will pay special attention to the condition of the viaduct and the slope where the trains run, specifically in the areas of Pedret and Pont Major. This municipal insistence intensified after the railway incident that occurred in Gelida.

"The pressure from the City Council during these weeks has had its effect."

Lluc Salellas · Mayor of Girona
Salellas also recalled that the necessity of this review was highlighted by a recent breakdown that occurred near Campdorà, a fact that, according to the mayor, "demonstrates that this review is necessary."
