Education expert Albert Quintana has reported that school segregation in Girona has worsened during the 2025-2026 academic year, particularly impacting the Santa Eugènia and Sant Narcís districts.

Albert Quintana, former teacher at Montilivi high school and president of the Fundació SerGi, highlights that areas like Pont Major and the eastern sector now have triple the average of students with special educational needs compared to other local schools.

"The main right to preserve is the right to education and to education with equity."

The expert also criticized the privatization of Bell-lloc and Les Alzines schools, describing it as a move that further polarizes the city's educational system. He pointed out that the Department of Education failed to plan for the resulting shortage of public secondary school places.
