Lawyer and former councillor Carles Ribas has confirmed his firm intention to run in the Girona municipal elections in 2027, following meetings with former president Carles Puigdemont in Waterloo.

The former member of the Convergència i Unió governments stated in an interview that he aims to return to active local politics. Ribas, who led the Ara Girona platform in the last elections, admitted to meeting Puigdemont and plans another meeting after Easter.

"I will certainly be there. Now I have to assess whether I am going to join or to lead."

While the specific political vehicle is yet to be decided, he advocates for a nationalist center-ground project. He has ruled out any pacts with Aliança Catalana due to disagreements over immigration policies and criticized the current Guanyem administration in Girona.
