The Cassà de la Selva Town Council has announced that the Correlletres literary contest has reached a record 670 participants in its tenth edition, marking a milestone for the Gironès region.

This year's success is highlighted by the geographical diversity of the authors, with entries coming from Catalonia, Valencia, and the Balearic Islands. The online competition challenges writers to include a specific mandatory word, to be revealed on March 13th, within a 48-hour deadline.
The event is part of the Cassà Literary Awards, now in their 60th year. The contest features categories for narrative (under 40s) and poetry (all ages), with prizes of 300 euros and publication in the cultural magazine Núvol.
Founded in 1967, these awards are among the oldest in the Girona area. Over the decades, they have featured renowned writers such as Vicenç Villatoro and Rafael Vallbona at the start of their careers.
