French rider Dorian Godon has secured the first leader's jersey of the Volta a Catalunya after a narrow victory in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, returning to the region where he studied for years.

The INEOS Grenadiers cyclist, who will turn 30 this May, beat Remco Evenepoel in a photo-finish. Godon is well-acquainted with the local terrain, having lived in the area while studying Physiotherapy at the Euses school in Salt, where he graduated in 2024.

"I studied medicine for a year and a half, but I wasn't admitted to physiotherapy school in France. Enrolling in Salt was the best decision of my life."
