The incident occurred at approximately 6:45 AM while the fire engine was returning from a call. The driver of the car, who was the sole occupant, died as a result of the crash with the emergency vehicle.

A second passenger car was also involved in the accident. Three people sustained injuries: two were classified as less serious and one as minor. All were transported to the Doctor Josep Trueta University Hospital in Girona.

Emergency services deployed eight Fire Brigade units, four Mossos d'Esquadra police patrols, and SEM medical teams, including psychological support services, to the scene.
