Spar Girona is facing a significant restructuring of its women's basketball squad, with only two players under contract for the next season, following their elimination in the league semifinals.

After their elimination in the league semifinals, Spar Girona begins planning for the next season with a landscape of major changes. Currently, only Axelle Merceron and Laura Quevedo have valid contracts, while most of their teammates are ending their ties with the club.
Among the confirmed or almost certain departures, Klara Holm's move to Azulmarino de Mallorca, a recently promoted team, stands out. The Swedish point guard, considered one of the best in the league and in European basketball, has been a fundamental piece for two seasons. The departure of Jocyte, who will join the new international competition Project B, and Pendande, heading to Olympiacos, is also expected. Other players such as Carter, Bibby, and Canella will also leave the team.
The club's priority is to try to retain the talent of Mariam Coulibaly, MVP center of the Women's League, who has established herself as a key reference in the paint and with an outside threat. Despite rumors about a possible signing by Greek team Athinaikos, the player herself denied it, stating that she has not yet made any decision about her future.
On the other hand, Carolina Guerrero and Ainhoa López have options to continue, having fulfilled their role this season. However, the continuity of young players Anna Badosa and Berta Ribas, with limited playing time, is less likely.
The club's management must also confirm the continuity of coach Roberto Íñiguez. After winning the first league title in Uni's history in 2015, the coach began his second stint in December 2023. Under his leadership, the team has achieved milestones such as winning the regular season last year and fourth place in this year's EuroLeague Final Six. Despite statements from figures close to the club suggesting his continuity was assured, Íñiguez recently declined to comment on his future.
Spar Girona aims to build a competitive squad to face the challenges of the upcoming season, which will include a new participation in the EuroLeague, likely with a preliminary phase, and the fight for the League and Cup titles. Competition will intensify with the presence of rivals such as Zaragoza, Valencia, Avenida, Jairis, and the newcomer Azulmarino.
