Brothers Joan, Josep, and Jordi Roca have opened a new venue in the old quarter of Girona. The bar, named Normal, is situated in Plaça de l'Oli, directly opposite the restaurant of the same name, also owned by the chefs. This new space features an indoor area and a spacious terrace.
Bar Normal operates from Wednesday to Sunday, with continuous hours from 12 PM to 11 PM, although the kitchen closes at 10 PM. The establishment does not accept reservations. According to its website, it defines itself as "a normal bar on a normal corner of a normal city".
The bar's culinary offering focuses on appetizers, tapas, and small plates. Highlights include 'gildas', croquettes made with Mas Marcè sheep's milk and Iberian ham, country-style pâté with foie mi-cuit, Girona beef steak tartare, beetroot tartare, chicken curry brioche, stewed meatballs, potato omelette, and various fries with special sauces. Desserts such as vanilla flan with cream, Rocambolesc ice cream, and Rocambolesc strawberry sorbet are also available.
With this opening, the Roca brothers solidify their presence in Girona and its surroundings. Their portfolio now includes El Celler de Can Roca (with three Michelin stars), Can Roca (their parents' original establishment), the banquet space Mas Marroch in Vilablareix, the Esperit Roca hotel in Sant Julià de Ramis (housing Esperit Roca and Fontané restaurants), the wine bar Vii in Plaça del Vi, the Rocambolesc ice cream and confectionery shop, the Casa Cacao hotel and shop, and the Normal restaurant.
