Bicycle lane construction in Salt with barriers and unfinished sections.

The Salt City Council has admitted an error in the bicycle lane project, which has forced the suspension of works and a review of parts of the original design.

The municipal technical services of Salt have detected "technical inconsistencies" in the project for the new bicycle lanes, a situation that has led to the suspension of works. These findings affect the viability of the initially planned construction.
The project, which was commissioned to an external company, presented errors in its original conception. Consequently, it was decided to immediately halt construction on Passeig de Marquès de Camps, one of the affected areas, to review the entire project and find a suitable solution.
Initially, it was anticipated that the bicycle lanes on Francesc Macià and Doctor Castany streets, as well as on Passeig de Marquès de Camps, would be completed between late October and early November. However, the need to review and modify parts of the design could alter these timelines and also the cost of the works, which were awarded for approximately 729,000 euros.
The PSC in Salt had previously pointed out execution defects in a section of the promenade, which required partial demolition for correction. Currently, the section of Passeig de Marquès de Camps between Passeig dels Països Catalans and Carrer Major remains under review, pending a final decision on the definitive solution.
During the Neighborhood Council meeting on July 7th, residents proposed improvements for the bicycle lane on Francesc Macià street. Some of these suggestions have been incorporated into the project review. Specifically, it has been decided that the bicycle lane between Guilleries and Roca Delpech streets will run over the sidewalk, maintaining a block of containers and avoiding the loss of seven parking spaces for vehicles and seven for motorcycles. The section between Roca Delpech and Passeig dels Països Catalans is still seeking the best solution.
