Female presence in Mossos d'Esquadra reaches historic high at nearly 30%

The Catalan police force now boasts the highest percentage of female officers in all of Spain.

The Mossos d'Esquadra have reached a historic milestone this March 2025, with female officers now accounting for nearly 30% of the total force, numbering 4,953 women.

With a total of 19.885 agents, the Generalitat de Catalunya's police force has become the law enforcement agency with the highest female representation in Spain, according to the Ministry of the Interior.

"These figures confirm the effectiveness of the measures promoted within the framework of the Equality Plan."

Leadership roles have also seen progress. By the end of 2025, women held 14.41% of command positions. Furthermore, the force maintains its record of seven female commissioners, representing 30% of the top-tier leadership.
