The current deputy mayor of Girona, Gemma Geis, has been confirmed as the Junts candidate for the 2027 municipal elections after emerging as the only contender in the party primaries.

Gemma Geis, who also serves as vice-president of the Girona Provincial Council, presented her candidacy to party members this Thursday. As the only applicant in the internal process, her official proclamation is scheduled for March 17, following formal approval by the party's territorial commission.

"I am taking this step out of responsibility, commitment, and a deep love for Girona."

During her speech, Geis emphasized that Girona needs strong leadership and a clear long-term vision rather than just day-to-day management. She advocated for a project that strengthens the city's status as a regional capital and ensures social cohesion across all neighborhoods.
