The company, which focuses on the commercialization of bicycles, parts, and accessories, as well as related services, formalized its incorporation on July 1st, as reported in the Official Bulletin of the Mercantile Registry (BORME). The company is based in Girona and its board of directors includes Chin Keng Chai, Chiao-Li Pan, and Han-Ni Huang. Chiao-Li Pan, a member of the group's international management, holds financial responsibilities.
This establishment solidifies Girona's position as a significant hub for the global cycling industry. Giant not only sells products under its own brand but also manufactures for other companies in the sector. In 2025, the multinational reported revenues exceeding 1.6 billion euros, despite a 15.5% decrease from the previous year, with a net profit of approximately 20.5 million euros. These figures reflect the challenges in the global bicycle market post-pandemic, marked by excess inventory and price pressures.
Giant Manufacturing, founded in Taiwan in 1972 by King Liu, has evolved from a contract manufacturer to a multinational group with its own brands, including Liv (focused on women), Momentum (urban mobility), and CADEX (high-end components). The company operates across all segments of the cycling market and maintains manufacturing facilities in Asia and Europe to bring production closer to consumer markets.
Giant's arrival joins other international cycling industry companies in Girona, such as Factor, which since 2024 has managed a significant portion of its European business from Riudellots de la Selva. Bernat Vilagines, Factor's distribution manager for Europe, describes Girona as a 'world cycling capital' due to its concentration of professional cyclists, visitors, and specialized businesses, in addition to its favorable logistics.
Factor's facilities in Girona handle between 85% and 90% of its European operations, with primary shipments to France, Germany, Benelux, Italy, and Spain. The site functions not only as a distribution center but also as a workshop for assembling customized bicycles. Factor currently employs 12 people in Girona and plans to expand its workforce.
