Outdoor activities commenced at 8 PM due to the heat, but this did not prevent the streets and squares of Girona, particularly in the Barri Vell, from transforming into a grand stage. Attendees enjoyed the inaugural shows of Festival Z, which spanned from Plaça de l’U d’Octubre to Plaça dels Jurats, the first concert of the Notes al Parc series at the Museu d’Història dels Jueus, and the CaixaForum Girona Summer Night, which concluded the season with events from mid-afternoon onwards.
The Fundació la Caixa began its program at 5:30 PM with a collage workshop led by artist Regina Giménez, followed by a ukulele workshop. Later, magicians Pere Rafart and Pau Martínez presented an itinerant show that captivated both children and adults with card tricks and coin vanishes.
Concurrently, the traveling show Âcid by Sound de Secà burst into the streets with percussion and anarchic characters, crossing the Onyar river to lead Festival Z attendees towards Plaça dels Jurats, where Bewis de la Rosa was set to perform.
At the Museu d’Història dels Jueus, the Notes al Parc summer music series featured a more relaxed offering from the violin and cello duo comprising locals Jaume Ferrer and Miquel Muñiz, performing works by Zoltán Kodály and Maurice Ravel.
In Plaça dels Jurats, Bewis de la Rosa delivered her Rap Rural, blending urban sounds and dances with traditional Catalan songs and dances. One of the most emotional moments was what the artist termed a 'Manchego pogo'.
The CaixaForum Summer Night continued until 11 PM with the Fantasies Kikiristaneses by the company Imperial Kikirstan. The evening concluded with Omar Sosa and Gustavo Ovalles presenting a piano and percussion concert of Afro-Cuban rhythms, bringing a lively end to a Friday filled with cultural activity in Girona.
