This action, promoted by Adif Alta Velocidad, will allow the completion of the transfer process of railway land to the city of Girona, a fact that has been described as “historic” by local authorities.
“"We are facing the solution to a case that reflects the political will of the Government."
The project covers an area of more than 11,000 square meters and includes both municipal land, occupied during the works of the Madrid-Barcelona-French border high-speed line, and land owned by Adif in Plaça Espanya and Plaça Poeta Marquina.
The main objective is to transform an area that for years has been marked by railway infrastructure and the old bus station. A new pedestrian interconnection space will be created, with efficient connections to transport services and the incorporation of new green areas that will integrate with Plaça Europa.
Among the planned improvements are the reorganization of sidewalks and pavements, the relocation of the bus stop, the planting of new plant species, the installation of urban furniture and modern lighting, and the integration of a point for the municipal bicycle service Girocleta.
