The decision, taken by the Department of Justice and Democratic Quality, has led to the suspension of trials and other procedures, leaving only the on-call service active in the Ramon Folc avenue building. This situation has forced workers to perform their duties wearing winter clothing for weeks.
“"Temperatures of 10 °C have been recorded in offices at the judicial headquarters, a situation considered untenable for both workers and citizens who had to attend the courts."
The department attributes the breakdown to the age of the building and the long supply times for the necessary parts for the definitive repair. As an immediate measure, the installation of temporary heaters has been announced to guarantee minimum temperature conditions.
The Girona Bar Association issued an internal circular informing lawyers of the authorization not to attend the workplace. However, the Association recommended that professionals call beforehand to confirm if the incident affected their activity, as they did not have specific data on suspended trials.
