The Bishop of Girona, Friar Octavi Vilà, formalized on Friday, July 31st, the appointments that reconfigure the diocese's pastoral structure. These changes, effective September 15th, respond to pastoral needs and aim to enhance community support and the evangelizing mission.
The new designations include rectors, parish administrators, vicars, and attached priests. These movements coincide with several canonical retirements that will take effect with the arrival of the new rectors in their parishes.
Among the notable appointments, Mn. Sebastià Aupí i Escarrà will serve as rector for several parishes in the Camallera area, while Mn. Josep Casellas i Matas will take responsibility in Arbúcies and its surroundings. Other appointed rectors include Mn. Antoni Coll i Casals (Amer, Anglès), Mn. Pere Domènech i Feixas (Arenys de Mar), Mn. Rafel Felipe i Freije (Domeny, Sant Gregori), Mn. Felip Hereu i Pla (Castellfollit de la Roca), Mn. Salvador Juanola i Cadena (Breda, Hostalric), Mn. Pere Narbón i Font (Batet, Begudà, Olot), Mn. Jordi Pascual i Bancells (Sant Feliu de Guíxols), Mn. Enric Plantés i Badosa (Caldes de Malavella), and Mn. Josep Puig i Bofill (Castelló d'Empúries).
Appointments as rector have also been made for Mn. Eduard de Ribot i Martínez (Palafrugell), Mn. Domènec Valls i Ferrer (Santa Eugènia de Ter de Girona), and Mn. Edwin Antonio Vásquez i Palacio (Fogars de la Selva). Additionally, Mn. Miquel Àngel Ferrés i Fluvià has been appointed parish administrator of Vilabertran.
In the area of vicars, P. Gaspar Borda i Bori will serve in the parishes of the Olot region, while Mn. Jean Baptiste Kamman will be a vicar in Caldes de Malavella and Riudellots de la Selva, in addition to continuing in Girona. Mn. Stannly Cunha dos Santos and Mn. Jules Gniningan will be attached to the parishes of Caldes de Malavella and Riudellots de la Selva.
The diocese has also announced significant canonical retirements. Among the retiring rectors are Mn. Jesús Calm i Masó (who will continue as attached to Sant Esteve d'Olot), Mn. Josep M. Castellà i Marcet (attached to Santa Maria de Banyoles), Mn. Lluís Costa i Bofill (former rector of Camallera and other parishes), Mn. Enric Costa i Dorca (former rector of Domeny and others), Mn. Joan Güell i Noguer (former parish administrator of Torrent), Mn. Pere Torras i Ferrer (former rector of Sant Feliu de Guíxols), Mn. Joan Triadó i Serracant (former rector of Breda and others), and Mn. Miquel Vall-llosera i Demiquels (who will continue as attached to Sant Esteve d'Olot).
Regarding permanent deacons, Mn. Josep Farrerons i Fugarolas (who served in the parishes of Anglès and surrounding areas) and Mn. Miquel Figarola i Pigem (deacon in Celrà and other parishes) are retiring.
