The Girona region has strengthened its educational support network this academic year by opening five new Integral Support Classrooms (AIS), bringing the total to ten facilities.

The new classrooms are located in schools across Girona, Arbúcies, Blanes, Palafrugell, and Ripoll. These units have already served 49 students, nearly doubling the figures from the previous year to meet rising demand.
The AIS are specialized resources within mainstream schools designed for children requiring intensive temporary support, particularly those with mental health or behavioral disorders. The model integrates educational and therapeutic care through coordination between health and education sectors.
The initiative aims to improve emotional regulation and social skills, facilitating a gradual return to the regular classroom environment while maintaining standard schooling during the process.
