Newly inaugurated athletics track at the sports facilities in Girona.

The Palau-Sacosta stadium in Girona has officially inaugurated its new athletics track, a certified infrastructure that will allow for official championships and addresses the lack of such facilities in the area.

The inauguration ceremony coincided with the Catalan Absolute Championship. The construction was made possible thanks to a total investment of 600,000 euros, provided by the Generalitat de Catalunya (50%), Girona City Council (25%), and the Girona Provincial Council (25%).
The event was attended by various institutional representatives, including the Minister of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, the president of the Girona Provincial Council, the Minister of Sports, as well as members of the local council and the president of the Catalan Athletics Federation.
The most symbolic moment of the celebration was a generational relay featuring several athletes, who completed a lap around the track with a torch representing the different historical stages of the club. The event featured a performance by the Cassà castellers and an intervention by the Diables de l'Onyar.
