Girona FC announced yesterday, January 20, 2026, the signing of midfielder Fran Beltrán, who joins from Celta Vigo, fulfilling a long-standing request from coach Míchel Sánchez.

The 26-year-old player from Seseña signs permanently with the Catalan club until June 30, 2030. The transfer was finalized for 150,000 euros, with the Galician club retaining 15% of any future sale. Beltrán and Míchel previously worked together at Rayo Vallecano when the midfielder began his professional career.
Developed at the Vallecas club, Beltrán played a key role in their promotion to the First Division at just 18 years old under Míchel, accumulating 40 league matches. His performance attracted Celta, who paid 8 million euros for him. He became a club legend, ranking third among players with the most appearances in the top category (240).
Despite his history, his role had recently diminished slightly under coach Claudio Giráldez, participating in 15 matches across the league, cup, and Europa League. In Girona, Beltrán seeks to regain a more prominent role in the midfield, where he will compete directly with players like Axel Witsel.
The new red-and-white player will bring a profile of greater physicality, strength, and work rate to the Girona midfield. Despite measuring less than 1.70 meters, Fran Beltrán stands out for a powerful lower body that allows him him to recover many balls and prevent rival transitions, providing balance and technical quality to initiate play.
