Girona held to a draw by late Alaves equalizer

Girona FC secured a 2-2 draw against Alaves at Mendizorroza this Tuesday, as a late goal from the home side denied the visitors all three points.

The match started poorly for Girona when Lucas Boye scored after just five minutes following a defensive mix-up. The Catalan side responded through Vanat, who equalized from a corner kick routine. In the second half, Tsygankov gave Girona the lead after a brilliant assist from the returning Ounahi.
Despite controlling much of the second period, Girona could not hold onto their lead. Boye struck again in the 89th minute with a powerful header to level the score. The result leaves Girona with 30 points, six points clear of the relegation zone.
