The Catalan Transit Service (SCT) is coordinating an intensive speed control campaign on the roads and streets of Girona from Monday, March 2, until next Sunday.

The operation involves the Mossos d'Esquadra and local police forces from various municipalities in the province. The goal is to monitor compliance with speed limits on both main highways and secondary networks, as well as within urban areas. This initiative follows last year's results, where a similar campaign led to 24,487 fines in just one week across Catalonia.
According to official data, inappropriate speed was a factor in 12% of accidents involving victims on interurban roads during 2025. In total, 1,207 accidents were recorded where speed was a contributing element, a figure that authorities aim to lower through increased police presence.
To strengthen this surveillance, the SCT has expanded its fleet of mobile radars. The organization currently has 10 radar trailers in operation, six of which were added this year. These devices will be specifically used to monitor the AP-7 highway, aiming for permanent tracking along the 344 kilometers between la Jonquera and Ulldecona.
