The Girona Provincial Council has launched a new 15 million euro funding line to support municipal investments across the region, specifically targeting smaller towns and sustainable development.

Under the new rules, every municipality is guaranteed at least 38.000 euros, while larger cities such as Girona, Figueres, and Blanes can receive up to 400.000 euros. The program aims to ensure that even the smallest local councils can afford essential infrastructure upgrades.
Towns with fewer than 500 residents are eligible for 100% funding of their projects. For municipalities with populations between 501 and 2,000, the grant covers 95%, while larger towns will receive up to 90% of the total cost. All projects must be completed and justified by the end of 2027.
This initiative complements the 2026 Municipal Economic Cooperation Fund, which provides 29.1 million euros in flexible funding for the region's 221 councils. Applications are expected to open in late April or early May following the official budget approval by the Council's plenary session next Tuesday.
