The Girona Provincial Council approved on Thursday a new grant program to strengthen Civil Protection volunteer associations and improve local emergency response capabilities.

Local authorities can apply for up to 5,000 euros for intervention vehicles and 3,000 euros for specialized tools such as water pumps, power generators, and defibrillators. Small villages with fewer than 500 residents are eligible for 100% funding of their projects.
The council also approved a separate fund for sustainable investments. This initiative aims to modernize public infrastructure in Girona, focusing on projects with a long-term lifespan that ensure economic efficiency and budgetary stability for local governments.
