The Girona Provincial Council plenary session approved a motion, promoted by CUP-Som Poble, demanding political accountability from the Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, for the management of the recent Rodalies crisis.

The initiative received support from Junts and ERC, while the PSC voted against it, and Independents de la Selva and Tots per l’Empordà abstained. The approved text accuses the Ministry of negligence and mismanagement, citing a lack of foresight, coordination, and user information during the rail service collapse, especially after the Gelida accident and subsequent incidents affecting the R1 line in the Girona counties.

"It is necessary to assume responsibilities at the highest level."

The motion argues that the situation experienced is not an isolated event but the direct consequence of years of underinvestment and underfunding of the railway system in Catalonia. In this regard, it holds both the State and the Generalitat responsible for failing to execute planned investments and provide an effective response to the crisis.
Despite the initial request, the PSC later clarified that the final approved text does not explicitly demand Paneque's resignation, but rather the assumption of political responsibilities. The socialists stated that this change resulted from a negotiation to adjust the proposal to the institutional framework.
Additionally, the motion includes a request for an independent external audit of the service. It also demands the integral transfer of Rodalies with the necessary resources and explicit support for the citizen mobilizations convened following the collapse.
