Data from the Girona Association of Real Estate Agents (API) reveals a concerning trend across the province: average prices rose by 2.18%, while the number of signed contracts plummeted by nearly 11%.
The coastal town of Tossa de Mar saw the highest spike, with rents jumping 16.2% to an average of 703.75 euros. In Girona city, although prices rose, contract volume fell by 9.5%.
“"The drop in contracts confirms a trend from recent years and highlights the lack of available housing."
Experts point out that in 24 out of 35 analyzed municipalities, price hikes remained below the national inflation rate of 2.7%. However, the sector is calling for measures to boost private investment and increase the rental stock.
