Girona FC has officially signed goalkeeper Rubén Blanco, who joins as a free agent to reinforce the squad at Montilivi following Ter Stegen's long-term injury.

The club had to look for players without a team to solve an urgent vacancy. Rubén Blanco had been a free agent since leaving Olympique de Marseille in January. This move provides manager Míchel with an experienced goalkeeper to compete with Krapyvtsov as a backup for Paulo Gazzaniga.
The 28-year-old player has signed a five-month contract under the minimum salary requirements of LaLiga. Despite not playing a competitive match since February 2024, his international experience was key for the sporting director Quique Cárcel.
