Girona City Council has announced the closure of Francesc Macià Street to traffic, specifically at number 45, for one week to carry out urgent pavement repair work. The restriction will begin on August 24th and will last until the 31st.
This intervention addresses concerns raised in the last municipal plenary session regarding the asphalt's deterioration. It was reported that the surface laid after previous works was coming loose, creating a hazardous situation, particularly for motorcycles, which were forced to change lanes to avoid the affected area.
Councilor Isaac Sánchez acknowledged these concerns and confirmed the municipal action on Francesc Macià Street. The repair of another defect on Camí de Montjuïc was also mentioned.
It is worth remembering that Francesc Macià Street was the scene of a significant incident in July 2025, when a large sinkhole formed at the intersection with Torre de Sant Lluís and Abat Escarré streets. That incident was caused by water accumulation during sewage system improvement works.
